WOBURN – Principal Kristen Maloney is pleased to share that Hurld Wyman Elementary School students were given an opportunity to shop for their loved ones at a Holiday Workshop put on by the PTO.
For the past five years, Hurld Wyman PTO volunteers have worked year-round to gather supplies for a workshop experience during which Wildcats can find gifts for their loved ones during the holiday season.
Volunteers collect a variety of items including mugs, candles, jewelry, games, and even toys for family petswhich are then put on sale for students to buy for $1 per item.
This year the Hurld Wyman library was transformed into a gingerbread house, and classes signed up for their own personalized shopping time equipped with lists of special people to shop for.
One special gift is a donation station where students can make a $1 donation in a family member’s name to WMHS’ Tanner Closet, which provides food and essentials for students in need.
This year, students donated a total of $200 that will be used to restock the shelves with essentials after the holiday season.
WMHS Assistant Principal Meg Patrissi accepted the check from PTO Vice President and Holiday Workshop Committee Chair Nikki Thibault along with student representatives on Jan. 2.
“A big thank you to the Hurld Wyman PTO, who works very hard to put on this wonderful event for our students and their families. The students light up when they find the perfect gift for their loved ones, which is why they look forward to the Holiday Workshop each year,” said Principal Maloney.
