BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou and Elementary Curriculum Director Lisa Dix wish to invite community members to participate in the Bourne Public Schools STEAMposium.
The STEAMposium will be held at Bourne Intermediate School, 70 Trowbridge Road, on Thursday, March 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to all Bourne community members.
All attendees are asked to RSVP to Elementary Curriculum Director Lisa Dix by Friday, March 24, by e-mailing ldix@bourneps.org.
The STEAMposium will feature hands-on activity stations, each representing different science, technology, engineering, art and math careers. Activities include:
- Heart Rate Math – Sports Engineer
- Space Docking – Astronaut and International Space Station
- Paper Football – Statistician
- Tallest Tower – Architect/Civil Engineering
- Hoop Gliders – Robotics Engineering
- Forensic Fun – Biometrics
- Microscope Mystery – Microbiologist
- Build A Boat – Marine Engineer/Naval Architect
- STEAM Mural – Environmental Engineer
Various community members will be in attendance to show their support for the Bourne Public Schools STEAM program. Community connections include:

- Wampanoag Tribe members
- New Bedford Whaling Museum
- Grace Sempkins, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI)
- White Shark Conservatory
- TRANE
- Cahoon Museum

Several community members in attendance will hold presentations and demonstrations throughout the event. The New Bedford Whaling Museum will present a 42-foot inflatable whale for attendees to explore and learn about. Members of the Wampanoag tribe will present Native American engineering techniques. The Bourne High School Football Team will host a mathematics activity table. Bourne elementary art teachers will be running a STEAM-related art project. Manomet Inc. will be presenting hands-on science. Bourne High School students will be presenting anatomical models. Grace Sempkins will host a hands-on activity representing Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) Sea Grant.
