MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson is pleased to announce that Christina Gagnon has been hired as the new treasurer for the Old Rochester Regional School District.
Gagnon comes to the district from the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District where she worked for 19 years.
“We’re excited to welcome Christina to the community,” Superintendent Nelson said. “She brings a wealth of experience in finance and education, which will be an asset to our district’s administrative offices.”
Gagnon was appointed March 1 by the school committee. Her first day in the role was March 7.
Gagnon served as assistant business manager for the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional schools since September 2018. She was previously the district’s assistant treasurer from 2004-2018.
While with Hampden-Wilbraham, Gagnon was responsible for the accounting and reporting for all general, grant, revolving, special revenue, student activity, food service and capital improvement project funds. She also prepared mandatory reports for state agencies and assisted in the district’s acquisition of grants.
“Christina’s breadth of knowledge and background in public education made her a leading candidate for this role, and we look forward to incorporating her skillset into our Business and Finance Office,” said Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Howard Barber.
“Christina has nearly two decades of education finance experience, and her familiarity with school funding accounts, the annual budget process and financial reporting will be valuable to our district’s operations,” said School Committee Chairperson Michelle Smith.
Prior to her work in education, Gagnon worked for a group of western Massachusetts radio and broadcast companies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Westfield State University.
