MEDWAY — Superintendent Armand Pires and Medway High School Principal John Murray are pleased to announce that Medway High School recently hosted a “Life After MHS” alumni event.
The event had approximately 40 Medway High School alumni in attendance. Current MHS juniors and seniors were able to speak with the alumni during a meet and greet portion. Alumni shared their experiences, accomplishments and offered advice on the college search and application process.
Some of the alumni in attendance went on to colleges and universities such as American University in Washington, D.C., Clemson University in South Carolina, the University of Florida and the University of Oregon, as well as a number of public and private colleges and universities in Massachusetts and across New England.
Students also asked their own questions of the alumni, which included questions about searching for and visiting colleges, challenges with leaving home, the transition to college, the advantages and disadvantages of a gap year, tips for the first year of college, and majors and resources available at colleges. Students also asked alumni what they may have done differently in high school, and how MHS prepared them for their futures.
In the evening, Principal Murray held a second meet-and-greet and question-and-answer session with the Medway High School Community and alumni.
The event was sponsored by the Medway Secondary Parent Teacher Organization (MSPTO).
“This event spotlights how valuable the opportunity for communication between current students and recent alumni is,” Principal Murray said. “We prepare our students for their next step in education as much as we can, but nothing beats hearing real-life experiences from those that came before. We are very proud of our alumni and thank them for their time.”
