Chairman Joseph Maney, who Monday night was overwhelmingly elected to a second term as Commissioner, and the Board of Water Commissioners would like to issue the following statement:
“Thank you to the ratepayers of the Lynnfield Center Water District who attended our Annual Meeting Monday evening and approved our full warrant of articles but most notably, the District’s Capital Program.
“The articles approved on Monday night will allow the District to move forward and create a sustainable system that can grow with our community for many years to come. It will build a new treatment plant to address quality concerns. The articles also construct and permit an interconnection with the Town of Wakefield and membership in the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority that will add up to 25% more supply, diversify the system and create additional sources outside of those pumped from groundwater sources.”
“Ratepayers will see the positive effects of the votes in the near future: More consistent water quality, and a stable, reliable water supply that will meet the needs of a growing community. As Commissioners, we remain focused on maintaining transparency through our design and construction process and in making sure all stay informed.”
“Thank you to our partners on the Select Board and Lynnfield Fire Department, who have strongly supported this effort. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the coming years.”
“We also want to thank James Alexander for his decades of service to the District in the role of Treasurer and welcome Shannan Cuddy to the role. Special thanks also to District Secretary Tim Doyle and Moderator Joe Markey for their work in making the meeting a success.”
