WEST NEWBURY – Superintendent Justin Bartholomew announces several key changes to the administrative positions at the district’s elementary schools.
Jim Day, who has served as interim principal at the Dr. Elmer S. Bagnall Elementary School this year, has been selected to become the permanent principal of the school moving forward. During the 2019-2020 school year, Day served as an assistant principal at the Bagnall, and before that was a school support coordinator for one year. Prior to those roles, he served as a teacher at the school for 19 years.
Dustin Gray, the current principal of the Dr. John C. Page Elementary School, is departing the district. He has served in the role for the past seven years, during a time of great transition for the Pentucket Regional School District. The district and Superintendent Bartholomew wish him the best in the next chapter of his career.
Emily Puteri, the current principal of all remote learning students in the district, has been selected to serve as the principal of the Page Elementary School. Prior to serving as the remote learning principal, Puteri was the principal of the Bagnall Elementary School for four years, and previously worked as an assistant principal at Pentucket Regional Middle School for three years. She also worked as a school psychologist for at the middle school and at the Page Elementary School.
Gray is departing on June 30. Day and Puteri begin their new roles on July 1.
“Jim Day and Emily Puteri have time and time again proven to be tremendous assets to our district. Both this year have taken on new roles to support our operations as we navigated the unprecedented, complex challenges of learning during the pandemic,” Superintendent Bartholomew said. “It is a pleasure to appoint them to these roles and I am confident they will continue to be valuable leaders at the Bagnall and Page. These changes come with a bittersweet note, however, as Principal Dustin Gray will be moving on from the district. We’re deeply thankful for his service to the Page School and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Additionally, the District has hired a new Information Technology Systems Administrator/Network Administrator. John Kwiatek comes to Pentucket after serving as a network manager/technician since 2002 at the Manchester Essex Regional School District and previously served with the Lynn Public Schools prior to his role at Manchester Essex.
The district has also posted an opening for an Information Technology and Digital Learning Director.
Finally, the District is preparing to formally post the role of Assistant Principal at the Bagnall Elementary School. Details are expected later this week.
