BROOKLINE — First Light, Brookline’s traditional kick-off to the Holiday Season, will move online this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
First Light has always been a one-night festive event. Storefront businesses open their doors to the public and offer a variety of family-friendly activities, including live music, dance, arts & crafts activities, obstacle courses, face painting, toy giveaways, food samples & beverages, live performances, and more.
This year First Light will instead be a weeklong virtual event. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on December 3rd, guests will have the opportunity to choose programs from over 25 participating businesses on the Brookline Chamber’s website First Light interactive map.
Businesses will host virtual workshops, performances, and activities to celebrate the start of an unprecedented Holiday Season.
“Though this year has been challenging, the holiday spirit is alive and well in Brookline,” Brookline Chamber Executive Director Debbie Miller said. “Klara Kaufman, the Chamber’s Communications and Operations Manager, has taken the lead to imagine and create First Light online. Business owners have paused and set aside precious time to create compelling material for First Light aficionados and first time guests.
From the comfort of your sofa, you can visit several businesses throughout the First Light week. This year your friends and family from Brookline, Massachusetts to Berkley, California and parts in-between can discover the heart and soul of Brookline’s business community! When your cousin from Cleveland is introduced to First Light stores, restaurants, and service providers, she might choose to support your Town for Holiday shopping, too. All businesses offer exceptional products and services online as well as in-person in many places. When you shop this season please #ShopBrookline.”
All of the events will be available online from December 3rd, at 5:00 pm through December 10th. Guests do not register or pay.
