STONEHAM — Chief Matthew Grafton is pleased to announce that a new Stoneham firefighter was sworn in this week.
Firefighter Dominic DeSimone was sworn in by Town Clerk Maria Sagarino on Monday, Nov. 2.
“We are thrilled to welcome our newest firefighter, Dominic DeSimone, to the Stoneham Fire Department,” Chief Grafton said. “We wish him the best of luck as he takes this next step in his career and look forward to working alongside him after he’s completed his training at the firefighting academy.”
Firefighter DeSimone earned his EMT certificate following his honorable discharge from the United States Army in 2019. Prior to joining the Stoneham Fire Department, he worked as a security officer at the Beauport Hotel in Gloucester since 2019 and served as a military police officer for the United States Army from 2014 to 2019. He was deployed to South Korea, Africa and Europe, and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Firefighter DeSimone is currently completing a bachelor’s in geography degree at Salem State University.
Firefighter DeSimone will be attending the 289th class of the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy in Stow, which starts on Monday, Nov. 23
