MAYNARD — Fire Chief Anthony Stowers is pleased to share that the Maynard Fire Department conducted nighttime training at a newly built senior living complex last week.
On Friday, June 5, Maynard firefighters, under the direction of Capt. Michael Parr, conducted nighttime training at Camellia Gardens, a new senior living complex in Maynard that is preparing for occupancy.
Firefighters used the building to train with the aerial ladder. The training objective was to allow firefighters to practice aerial ladder placement to ensure its reach from multiple locations around the building, should it ever be needed at the building.
“Responding to active fires at large, multi-unit buildings is a unique challenge and training like this allows our firefighters to practice their response should our department ever need to respond to a fire at this building,” Chief Stowers said. “Using a real structure to train for a realistic scenario is invaluable training for our firefighters.”
