RAYMOND, N.H. — Superintendent Tina McCoy and Principal Laura Yacek are pleased to report that students at the Lamprey River Elementary School took part in a “Send-Off to Summer” car parade on Wednesday, June 3.
Staff and students had an opportunity to say goodbye and wish each other a happy and safe summer.
“This truly was a special day for the entire Lamprey River Elementary School Community. Students left school on Friday, March 13, never expecting that they would not be returning on Monday,” said Principal Yacek. “For the last three months, they have only seen their classmates and staff through virtual meetings. We wanted an opportunity to say goodbye in person and wish our students, and one another, a great summer.”
Students and their families drove through the LRES parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Teachers made signs and waved to students as they drove by.
Principal Yacek and Assistant Principal Dorothy Franchini handed out LRES medals to students moving on to middle school next school year. The traditional celebration followed social distancing guidelines, and teachers wore masks and used hand sanitizer. Students were handed medals as they drove by.
Physical education teacher Louis Faulkner also handed out Virtual Field Day ribbons for all families that participated, following social distancing practices.
Families decorated their cars and students held up posters showing their support for the LRES staff. All families that participated remained in their cars throughout the parade.
