CANTON — Superintendent Jill Rossetti and Construction Technology Instructor Ron Eby are pleased to announce that Blue Hills students attended the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association’s Lumber and Building Material (LBM) Expo earlier this month.
On Thursday, Feb. 6, 28 juniors from Blue Hills’ Construction Technology, Metal Fabrication and HVAC programs attended the LBM Expo at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The expo featured an exhibit hall with vendor booths ranging from business marketing and financing through heavy equipment sales, virtual reality simulations, mock demo zone presentations and panel discussions.
At the expo, students attended the Students & Veterans Industry Recruitment Panel Discussion that featured representatives from various lumber manufacturers and distributors in Massachusetts discussing possible career opportunities for students. Panel speakers included representatives from Cape Cod Lumber, Shepley Wood Products, Boise Cascade Company and others.
Following the panel, students were invited to attend the Students & Veterans Industry Recruitment Job Fair to network with LBM professionals.
“Students who attended the expo had the opportunity to network with industry professionals and learn about the best industry practices,” said Instructor Eby. “The students that attended the expo showed amazing initiative while they learned more about the materials, tools, equipment and technological advancements that are available to them in the building material industry.”
