Bridgewater Police Participating in No Shave Event to Replace American Flags Throughout Town
Goal of Raising $2,000 Already Reached
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte is pleased to report that members of the Bridgewater Police Department are participating in a fundraising event this month to support an effort to replace several American flags throughout the town.
The Bridgewater Police No Shave Fund-Razor allows department members to donate or raise $50 to earn an exemption from the department’s facial hair restrictions during the month of November.
The Bridgewater Police Association will match each $50 donation, and as of Wednesday, the goal of raising $2,000 has been reached.
With the money raised, the association will purchase brand-new American flags and replace them at all town-owned buildings and properties in Bridgewater, including the Academy Building, all Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District schools, parks, war memorials, Olde Scotland Links golf course and other locations. Flags will also be replaced at Legion Field, the Bridgewater Vets Club and the Bridgewater VFW Post 2125. The department will also be retiring the old flags.
The department will reach out to each of the building property managers over the next few weeks and months and determine the size of the flags they need to purchase.
The goal will be to have all of the flags replaced by Memorial Day, May 25, 2020.
