Saugus Police Investigating After Two Pedestrians are Struck By Vehicle
SAUGUS — Interim Chief Ronald Giorgetti reports that the Saugus Police are investigating after two pedestrians were struck by a car on Friday night.
At 10:20 p.m. on Friday, Saugus Police responded to the area of the Colonial Traveler Inn on Route 99 for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving two pedestrians. After an initial investigation, police learned that two pedestrians, a 57-year-old woman and an adult man, had been struck by a car while crossing the street.
The 57-year-old woman sustained life threatening injuries, and the man sustained injuries believed not to be life threatening. Both pedestrians were taken by ambulance to Boston hospitals.
The driver of the car, a 67-year-old Malden man, remained on scene.
A portion of Route 99 near the site of the crash was temporarily closed Friday night and into early Saturday morning as police responded and began their investigation.
This crash is under investigation by the Saugus Police and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
