Students from the United Arab Emirates to Visit Essex Tech to Learn about Agricultural Education

DANVERS — Superintendent Heidi Riccio is pleased to announce that a group of students from the United Arab Emirates will visit Essex Tech next week to learn more about agricultural education.

WHEN:

Thursday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE:

North Shore Agricultural & Technical School, 565 Maple St., Hathorne (Danvers)

WHAT:

A group students from the United Arab Emirates, ages 16-18, will visit Essex Tech.

While at the school, visiting students will be led on a tour that will feature the school’s large animals, farm pastures, wetlands and farm equipment. Student representatives from several of Essex Tech’s agricultural programs will also be present to share their experiences. Programs that will be highlighted during the visit include Sustainable Horticulture, Arboriculture, Equine Science, Veterinary Science, Environmental Technology and Companion Animals.

“It’s exciting for us to have this opportunity to share our programming and facility with students from another country, and to start a dialogue about the importance of agriculture education,” Superintendent Riccio said. “As we’ve seen on the North Shore, it’s critical for young people to have access to agriculture and career technical education, and there’s a need for workers with these skills everywhere.”
