Maynard Public Schools Secure Partial Donation, Place Order for Air Purifiers for Green Meadow Elementary School
MAYNARD — Superintendent of Schools Robert Gerardi announces that the Maynard Public Schools has secured a generous partial donation and placed an order for commercial-grade air purifiers for the Green Meadow Elementary school.
The district placed an order with Best Living System LLC for a total of 54 high-grade air purifiers. Two different models have been specially selected based on their capacity to handle the volumes of air and ceiling heights in the various classrooms and other spaces at Green Meadow.
Green Meadow will receive 13 BLS12K systems and 41 MCI22K systems.
The BLS12K uses photo-catalytic oxidation technology to remove and destroy mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, odors and volatile organic compounds in areas up to 12,000 cubic feet.
The MCI22K is similar and covers areas up to 22,000 cubic feet.
Both air systems are designed for and marketed to offices, schools, daycare facilities, nursing homes and even air purification in ambulances. They do not raise ozone levels like some other products on the market.
The total cost of the order is $23,654, but it reflects a donation of $4,480 to cover the cost of eight MCI22K units. The donation is courtesy of the NORMI Environmental TASC Force, a non-profit network of environmental professionals, of which Best Living Systems is associated.
The systems are expected to ship to Maynard from the company’s manufacturing partner in Tennessee on Monday and arrive some time next week.
“We consulted with multiple vendors in an effort to locate a product that was both cost effective for the district and offers the capabilities to clean and circulate the air in a large facility with high ceilings,” Superintendent Gerardi said. “We are very pleased to accept the donation from NORMI Environmental TASC Force and look forward to working with Best Living Systems to bring these air purifiers online at Green Meadow as soon as possible.”
