Middleborough Police Arrest and Charge Men Sitting in Stolen Pickup Truck
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Chief Joseph Perkins reports that Middleborough Police Department arrested two men early Friday morning who were caught sitting inside of a pickup truck that had been recently stolen out of Stoughton.
GERARDO GEORGI, AGE 22, OF MIDDLEBOROUGH was charged with Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin) and Receiving Stolen Stolen Property Over $1,200. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
ROBERT PERRY, AGE 21, OF MIDDLEBOROUGH was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,200.
Both men are expected to be arraigned today in Wareham District Court.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday, Middleborough Police officers received a call from a resident stating that there was a suspicious vehicle parked in her driveway on Peirce Street.
Officers located a red Ford F-350 pick up truck with a plow attached on the front and recognized the man in the passenger’s seat as GEORGI. He was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant he had by Middleborough Police on charges that he broke into multiple vehicles in the downtown in recent weeks.
In searching the truck, a small amount of heroin was found and confiscated.
The truck had a logo of a Stoughton landscaping business on the side. Officers called the owner of the business, who stated that that he did not know PERRY or GEORGI and that the truck should have been parked in his driveway. PERRY was then placed under arrest without incident.
When notifying Stoughton Police that they had recovered the stolen vehicle, Stoughton investigators told Middleborough Police that the location where the truck was stolen also had a number of motor vehicle breaks ins and it is currently under investigation whether GEORGI or PERRY were involved.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
