Nahant Fire Chief Conducts Final Inspection of Department’s New Fire Engine
NAHANT — Chief Michael Feinberg is pleased to announce that the Nahant Fire Department’s new engine truck is scheduled to arrive next month.
Chief Feinberg traveled to Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania yesterday to perform a final inspection of the engine. The inspection was a success, and the truck is expected to be delivered to the Nahant Fire Station on March 1.
The new engine, a Sutphen Monarch Chassis, can dispense 1,500 gallons of water per minute and will replace a 1980 Mack engine that has served the department well for many years but is now at the end of its useful lifespan.
“This new engine is a much needed replacement for our department, and will enable us to better serve residents with up-to-date, efficient equipment,” Chief Feinberg said. “We’re thankful that the town supported our need for a new engine, and that we’ll be able to retire the old engine immediately.”
The Fire Department will hold an event for the public to visit the fire station and see the new engine up close shortly after its arrival.
