Three Easton Firefighters Graduate from Massachusetts Fire Academy
EASTON — Chief Kevin Partridge is pleased to announce that three Easton firefighters graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy today.
On Friday, March 30, Steven Wood, Matthew Allain and Christopher Brasells were among the 34 firefighters from 23 fire departments to graduate from the 262nd class of the Massachusetts Firefighter Academy. Graduates were recognized at a ceremony at the Department of Fire Services headquarters in Stow.
The 10-week program teaches the essentials of fire and non-fire conditions, life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack.
All three are now certified at the level of Firefighter I and II and in hazardous material operation.
Firefighter Allain, of New Bedford, was an EMT in Acushnet and Rochester from 2012-2016.
Firefighter Brasell, of Acushnet, has previously worked as an EMT in Wareham and was a call firefighter in Acushnet and Rochester before coming to the Easton Fire Department.
Firefighter Wood, 28, of Warwick, Rhode Island, worked in Rhode Island as a call firefighter and on Fall River EMS.
Firefighter Brasells will be assigned to Group 1 and will work under Captain James Walsh. Firefighter Allain is assigned to Group 2 under Captain Evan Malone’s command. Firefighter Wood will work under Captain Larry Blye in Group 4.
“It’s great to see these three men graduate from the academy and I welcome them to the department,” Chief Partridge said. “Not only will they add a much needed boost to our staffing levels, but I am confident that they will serve the department and the town of Easton well.”
The other 31 graduates represented the fire departments of Acton, Blackstone, Braintree, Cambridge, Clinton, Framingham, Haverhill, Ipswich, Lakeville, Marblehead, Mashpee, Milton, New Bedford, Reading, Seekonk, Sharon, Somerville, Springfield, Stoughton, Sudbury, Truro and Yarmouth.
