In celebration of Veterans Day, Rochester Middle School students will welcome two distinguished veterans who will offer keynote speeches based on their personal experiences serving in the U.S. armed forces.
Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Major David Stevens will speak about his experience building schools for children in Afghanistan, enabling them to have a safe place to further their education, while Retired Navy Lt. Paul Lewis will speak about achievement and success using the lens of his Naval service to provide practical examples for students and to honor the veterans in attendance.
“Our entire community is grateful for the service and sacrifice our veterans have made while defending our way of life,” Superintendent Hopkins said. “This program is an excellent chance for our students to both thank them for their service and learn lifelong lessons based on their experiences.”
The event will also include participation and performances from numerous RMS and Spaulding High School students, including the eighth grade band, seventh and eighth grade chorus, the Spaulding High Junior Air Force ROTC and the RMS Video Club.
