Meet Marc Larocque

Marc works as a public relations associate for the company’s Southern New England office, which serves clients south of Boston, including police departments, fire departments, school districts and municipal
government agencies. As a public relations associate, Marc takes pride in making communications simple for all of our clients, big and small, even when the message might be complicated.

Prior to joining JGPR, Marc worked for Providence Business News, reporting on real estate and the healthcare industry. Before that, he spent most of his career for the Brockton Enterprise, covering local
government, breaking news and human interest stories from the community, following a stint working those same beats at his hometown daily newspaper, the Taunton Daily Gazette.

Marc has won several awards throughout his career as a newspaper writer, including two first place awards at the 2019 New England Better Newspaper Competition held by the New England Newspaper
& Press Association, for best local personality profile (for a story about a prolific foster mom from Brockton) and for best obituary (about a manager for undisputed champion boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler).

Marc is a 2010 graduate of Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Always focus on improving the process, rather than just focusing on the results, and don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join the team?
Be able to juggle lots of projects and always move the ball forward on each of them, while remaining ready to jump into action whenever a client reaches out in the need of clear, effective communications services.

Dogs or cats?
Cats.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
The most inspiring part of this job is getting to hear about the educators who make a profound difference in the lives of disabled children and their families, along with the amazing stories of life-saving rescues conducted by our local police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics.

When you were 5, what did you aspire to be when you grew up?
I’m not sure I had any career aspirations when I was 5 years old, honestly. I loved playing Super Mario and watching cartoons. My little brother and I did pretend to run a newspaper at one point, though.

What’s your why?
In recent years I’ve realized my ultimate underlying motivation is the glorification of God through any accomplishments or good deeds, and to always try to see Him in my neighbors.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I played in a garage rock band in high school, I chose journalism instead of computer programming, I spent a semester of college in Cairo, and I learned to make a profit at Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments.
