Three Drivers Facing Charges
EASTON — Chief Gary Sullivan reports that the Easton Police Department responded to three crashes in eight hours overnight and charged three people with OUI.
JOHN MORRILL, AGE 50, OF BRIDGEWATER, is charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Drugs
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Possession of a Class C Substance (Klonopin)
- Possession of a Class E Substance (Gabapentin)
MORRILL was scheduled to be arraigned today in Taunton District Court.
At approximately 5:14 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, the Easton Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at 316 Main St.
Upon arrival, officers observed that a Nissan sedan had crashed into a Toyota sedan while traveling westbound on Main Street.
Officers identified the driver of the Nissan as MORRILL and, following an on-scene investigation, it was determined that he was driving under the influence of drugs. MORRILL was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident.
The male operator of the Toyota and his child passengers were not injured in the crash. MORRILL was also uninjured.
RISA TRIPP, AGE 22, OF FOXBORO, is charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Failure to Wear a Seat Belt
- Driving with an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, Easton Police officers responded to a rollover crash at the intersection of Beaver Dam Road and Poquanticut Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located a Chevrolet pickup truck on its side in the middle of the roadway. An initial investigation revealed that the driver of the pickup truck, identified as TRIPP, had driven the vehicle off the right side of the road and struck a stone wall and a utility pole before coming to rest back in the roadway.
As part of the on-scene investigation, officers also discovered an open beer bottle inside of TRIPP’S truck and determined that she was driving under the influence of alcohol. TRIPP was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
She is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Taunton District Court.
PATRICK CASALETTO, AGE 21, OF WAKEFIELD, is charged with:
-
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Marked Lanes Violation
On Friday, March 23 at 1:15 a.m., Easton Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of 231 Main St.
Police learned that a BMW sedan was traveling westbound on Main Street when it crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a fire hydrant and a stone wall. The car came to rest on its roof off the side of the road.
The driver, identified as CASALETTO, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life threatening and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
A subsequent investigation determined that CASALETTO was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date.
“It is very fortunate that no one was seriously injured or killed in any of these crashes,” Chief Gary Sullivan said. “With taxis and ride sharing apps, there is no excuse to get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. I want to commend the responding officers for their efforts in these investigations.”
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
