ACTON — Chief James Cogan reports that the Acton Police Department arrested a man on child enticement charges on Saturday night.
DOUGLAS COOPER, AGE 79, of ACTON, was arrested and charged with:
- Enticement for Sex – Child under 16
On Saturday, Dec. 2, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Acton Police were called to 68
Windsor Ave. in response to a tip of an adult male who attempted to meet up with a 14-year-old child for sex.
Upon arrival, Acton officers located the alleged suspect, later identified as COOPER. He was then interviewed at the Acton Public Safety Facility.
After an initial investigation, it was discovered that COOPER had allegedly engaged in conversations of a sexually explicit nature on a mobile application with a minor who had identified himself as a 14-year-old boy.
COOPER allegedly agreed to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old boy at the South Acton Commuter Lot in Acton for the purposes of a sexual encounter. The individual was an adult posing as a 14-year-old child.
COOPER was arrested at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday evening. Bail was set at $7,540. COOPER did not post bail and was transported to Billerica House of Corrections.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
