LUDLOW — Chief Daniel Valadas reports that the Ludlow Police Department arrested a man Wednesday on several charges, including assaulting a police officer.
RANDALL J. LEPORE, 58, OF NO KNOWN ADDRESS, was charged with:
- Disorderly Conduct
- Resisting Arrest
- Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (Serious Bodily Injury)
At 9:38 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, Ludlow Police received a call from an individual who said they had been in a verbal exchange with a man who punched their car’s driver’s side window, near the intersection of Center Street and Harding Avenue.
Based on an initial investigation, officers located the man, later determined to be LEPORE, in the parking lot of a local eatery. LEPORE is known to Ludlow Police.
As officers exited their cruisers, LEPORE balled up his fists and approached the officers aggressively. He ignored officers’ orders to stop. LEPORE actively resisted the officers, who then used a stun gun to subdue and arrest him.
A Ludlow officer sustained a non-life-threatening, yet significant laceration in the altercation. This officer was transported by ambulance to Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, where he was treated for his injuries and released that evening.
LEPORE was arraigned Thursday in Palmer District Court. He is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
