LOWELL — Superintendent Raymond Kelly Richardson would like to invite the community to a day of fun for city families as the Lowell Police Department hosts a youth outreach event featuring video games, pizza, shaved ice, carnival games and more.

Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
WHERE:
JFK Plaza, 50 Arcand Drive, Lowell
WHAT:
A day of fun and activities for city youths funded with contributions from the Shannon Community Safety Initiative, Digital Federal Credit Union, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England, the Lowell Police Superior Officer’s Association, and the Lowell Police Patrolman’s Association.
Food and activities will include:
- Pizza
- Shaved ice
- A video gaming van
- Carnival games including a fishing game, foam axe throwing, and skee ball
- A prize tent for youths
- Corn hole
- Themed raffle baskets
Representatives from Massachusetts State Police, the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, UMass Lowell Police, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, and the National Park Service will also be on hand.
“The community policing strategy we embrace here in Lowell involves more than just responding to and investigating crimes. It involves outreach to youths and community members, and long-term relationship building with all members of the community,” Superintendent Richardson said. “We hope youths and their parents will join us for this day of fun and take the opportunity to get to know some of the first responders who work to both protect and connect with our community.”
