EXETER — SAU 16 Superintendent David Ryan, the Exeter Historical Society and Racial Unity Team invite the community to attend an educational program this February about black history in Exeter.

WHAT:
The Racial Unity Team is hosting the program, titled “An Introduction to Exeter’s Black History,” at its monthly meeting this February. The program is free and open to the public.
Exeter Historical Society Historian Barbara Rimkunas, also a member of the Racial Unity Team’s leadership, will give a presentation during the program about Jude Hall, a former slave and Revolutionary War veteran. Hall’s life story is representative of the hardships many New England based African Americans faced in early U.S. history.
The event will culminate with a discussion on how the community can continue learning about diversity through local history.
About the Racial Unity Team
The Racial Unity Team is a nonprofit organization that seeks to advance relationships among people of different racial identities, increase understanding and reduce bias in the Exeter community. The group is working to lay a foundation for developing racial understanding and has established a transformational goal of developing a community that promotes racial diversity and understanding.
