WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Hanlon and Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak report that the Whitman Police Department is investigating after receiving a report of a suspicious male attempting to talk to children at a Whitman bus stop this morning.
At approximately 8:15 a.m., police received a call from a parent stating that there was a man in a gray SUV who was attempting to talk to students at the bus stop on Beulah Street.
The man then followed the bus for a short time after the students boarded the school bus before continuing into Abington.
Whitman Police notified Abington Police who said that they had a similar incident in town at one of their elementary schools on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The incident remains under active investigation and police are looking to speak with the individual driving the SUV.
At no time was there any physical contact between the man in the vehicle and the children and there was at least one adult present at the bus stop at the time.

The Whitman-Hanson Regional School District sent a letter to the parents of the children on the bus to notify them of the incident and subsequent investigation.
