Saugus Police Investigating Main Street Shooting
SAUGUS — Chief Ronald Giorgetti reports that the Saugus Police Department is investigating a shooting on Main Street earlier this evening.
At approximately 6:37 p.m., Saugus Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the area of 137 Main St. Officers responded immediately and, upon arrival, located shell casings in the roadway and secured the scene.
Nobody was struck by the gunshots, and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Following an on-scene investigation, officers learned that a suspect riding in the rear of a vehicle travelling on Main Street fired several shots out of the vehicle’s rear passenger side window. The vehicle, which is described as a blue Chevy sedan with three occupants inside, then fled the scene.
This incident is under active investigation by the Saugus Police Criminal Investigations Division, and officers are working to locate the vehicle and its occupants. Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene to assist in the search for the vehicle.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or observed a similar motor vehicle in the area is asked to call Saugus Police at 781-941-1183.
