Littleton Police Officer Delivers Baby at Residence
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew King is pleased to announce that a Littleton Police officer delivered a baby at a residence in town this afternoon.
At approximately 4 p.m., police received a 911 call reporting that a woman had gone into labor at a home on Harwood Avenue. At the time of the call, Officer Jesse Bowen was very close to the residence and was dispatched immediately to respond.
Upon arrival, Officer Bowen observed that the mother was in labor and that the baby was crowning. He promptly began assisting with the delivery and reported back to dispatch that a baby girl had been successfully delivered at 4:14 p.m.
Littleton Firefighters and Emerson Hospital Paramedics subsequently responded to the scene, and the family was transported to a nearby hospital. The newborn girl is the family’s second child, and both she and the mother are doing well.
“Officer Bowen did a fantastic job, responding calmly and professionally to help a family in need,” Chief King said. “This baby girl was ready to come into the world, and I’m glad both are happy and healthy.”
