Methuen Police Department Purchases Five New Cruisers
METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon is pleased to announce that the Methuen Police Department has purchased five new police cruisers that hit the road last week.
The 2016 Ford Police Interceptor SUVs were purchased for the patrol division to replace the department’s old Ford Crown Victoria cruisers, which had rotting frames and high mileage. The new cruisers are all-wheel drive, unlike the old vehicles that had rear-wheel drive and could not safely travel during inclement weather.
“Our department’s old cruisers were in dire need of replacement,” Chief Solomon said. “We are thrilled to have these new vehicles, which will enable us to do our jobs more effectively.”
The Ford Interceptors are also equipped with a new style of LED light bars, which can be dimmed at night and have an “always on” option for additional visibility when officers are on patrol. This option is particularly useful during neighborhood events like National Night Out and trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Methuen Police also purchased a new detective vehicle that has not arrived yet.
