Littleton Police Participate in “Trunk-or-Treat” Halloween Event
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew J. King is pleased to report that the Littleton Police Department and its Police Explorers participated in the town’s annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween Parade on Sunday afternoon.
The Littleton Parks, Recreation & Community Education Department hosted the annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 25 from noon to 2 p.m., starting at the Castle in the Trees Playground on King Street and ending at the Park and Recreation Building on Shattuck Street.
The parade ended at Recreation Building the parking lot, where 14 specially-decorated vehicles, along with a police cruiser and a fire engine, were waiting for the kids and their families. Approximately 300 residents, including 200 kids, took part.
Patrolman Dan Devine oversees the Explorer Program and was on hand with three Littleton Police Explorers: Capt. Michael Ray, Lt. Shannon Sturz, and Explorer Shaun Stearns with a decorated police cruiser, handing out candy to the kids, who dressed up in their Halloween costumes for the day.
“We had a great turnout for the Trunk-or-Treat event, and the weather cooperated as well,” Chief Matthew J. King said. “Events like this create a fun, safe, and festive environment for the children of our community to kick off Halloween, and we are very glad to be part of this. I also want to thank our Explorers and Patrolman Devine for joining in the fun.”
The Littleton Park and Recreation Halloween Parade has been an annual event for the young children of the community for many years. The event allowed the younger children to show off their costumes in a fun and safe environment, while collecting treats from the theme-decorated vehicle trunks of businesses, residents and community groups.
