Littleton Police Charge Three Youths With Breaking into House
Teens Allegedly Claimed To Be in a Gang, Spent Two Days in House
LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew J. King announced today that three youths have been arrested and charged in connection with a breaking and entering case in town.
The two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy allegedly broke into a house on Whitcomb Avenue on Sunday and spent the night inside the home, and stole a large quantity of cash from the home. They also allegedly tried to steal a BMW automobile from the driveway, after loading it with valuables from the house. The owner was away from home at the time.
A neighbor, suspecting wrongdoing, called Littleton Police on Monday and gave officers good descriptions of the suspects. With the assistance of the Groton Police Department K-9 unit, police tracked the youths to a house on King Street. When officers arrived, one of the suspects fled the scene, but was captured a short time later by a team of Littleton, Groton, and Boxborough police officers.
The youths claimed to be part of a violent, national street gang.
The three suspects were brought to the Littleton Police Department for booking. A significant quantity of cash was recovered from the suspects.
Chief King wishes to thank the Boxborough and Groton Police Departments for their fast-acting assistance, and he would like to commend Littleton Sergeant Edmond Bussiere, Sergeant Matthew Pinard, Patrolman Brian Jones, and Patrolman Michael Crory for their hard work in quickly capturing the suspects.
“This was a total team effort by the Littleton Police Department, with the help of our neighbors,” Chief King said. “The suspects were identified and arrested within three hours of the initial police response. The mutual cooperation showed by Littleton, Groton and Boxborough allowed us to put an immediate end to these suspects’ brash and malicious crime spree.”
The suspects, whose names are not being released because of their ages, will be arraigned in Lowell Juvenile Court later today.
