BURLINGTON — Chief Thomas Browne is pleased to share that Burlington Police has welcomed Officer James Dawson as the department’s newest member.
Officer Dawson was officially sworn in during a ceremony held on Monday, Jan. 27.
Before joining the Burlington Police Department, Officer Dawson served as an Infantry Platoon Leader in the New Jersey National Guard before becoming a New Jersey State Trooper, a role he held for more than three years.
During his time with the New Jersey State Police, he completed and participated in a variety of specialized training including Critical Incident Response, Effective Patrol Techniques, Advanced Roadside Investigations, Active By Standership For Lay Enforcement (ABLE), Bleeding Control, and Integrated Communications, Assessment, and Tactics.
Officer Dawson is originally from Byram Township, NJ, and graduated from Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2017.
“I want to welcome Officer Dawson to the department. He comes to us with years of experience and training and I know he will be a great fit here in our department,” said Chief Browne. “Our department is committed to continuously learning, growing, and keeping our community safe, and I wish Officer Dawson the best of luck in this next chapter of his career here in Burlington.”
