SALEM — On Thursday, Dec. 26, at about 8:05 p.m., the Salem Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a stabbing in the parking lot of the Mall at Rockingham Park near the Food Court entrance.
Upon arrival, patrol officers found a 20-year-old male from Windham with a significant stab wound to his torso. Officers provided immediate aid to the subject, including placing a chest seal on the wound.
The male subject was transported by Salem Fire to Lawrence General Hospital where he was then airlifted to a Boston area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The male remains in critical condition following surgery.
A crime scene in the area where the stabbing occurred was set up and processed. Numerous witnesses were identified and physical evidence collected.
A vehicle seen fleeing the scene with potential suspects was identified and broadcast to neighboring agencies. A subject suffering a knife wound to his arm appeared at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester was identified as being involved in the incident in Salem.
Additionally, Salem detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Londonderry overnight related to this investigation. The vehicle seen fleeing the scene at the mall parking lot was recovered overnight, abandoned in Salem, and detectives are working on executing multiple search warrants related to this incident.
At this time, it is believed that all parties involved in this incident have been identified and there is no ongoing threat to the public. This remains an active investigation and further details will be released in the coming days.
Both the Manchester and Londonderry Police Departments have assisted in this investigation.
