LOWELL — Superintendent Greg Hudon is pleased to report that the Lowell Police Department is now offering online retrieval of motor vehicle crash reports to the public.
Until now, those involved in a crash had to visit the Lowell Police Department Records Bureau during limited business hours to obtain a physical copy of the police report.
With this new system, those involved in motor vehicles crashes will now be able to get copies of their crash reports online, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
To facilitate the new system, officers will hand out small business cards to those involved in crashes with the date of incident and report number written on a card, along with a QR code to obtain the crash report online 72 hours after a crash has occurred.
“We believe this new system will increase the availability of motor vehicle crash reports and will make it easier for residents and those involved in crashes to obtain the reports at more flexible hours and with less inconvenience,” said Superintendent Hudon. “This new system is yet another way in which we are trying to make the Police Department and all of our services more accessible.”
