WAKEFIELD — Chief Steven A. Skory reports that the Wakefield Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving an ambulance this morning.
On Friday, March 31 at 10:37 a.m., Wakefield Police responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision in the area of 721 Main St. that involved an ambulance from Cataldo Ambulance Services.
An initial investigation indicated that the driver of an Audi SUV crossed over the double yellow line while coming around the bend on Main Streetandsubsequently struck the ambulance.
The ambulance was transporting a patient to Melrose Wakefield Hospital at the time of the crash. Another ambulance arrived on scene to transport the patient to the hospital.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the crash. The ambulance sustained damage to the rear driver’s side. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The driver of the Audi SUV was cited for a marked lanes violation.
