ACTON — Police Chief Richard Burrows and Fire Chief Robert Hart report that Acton Police and Fire responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a juvenile pedestrian on Great Road Wednesday evening.
On Wednesday, Nov. 2, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Acton Police and Fire received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Great Road near Harris Street.
First responders arrived to find the juvenile suffering from serious injuries, and provided immediate medical aid. The juvenile, believed to be 13 years old, was transported by an Acton Fire ambulance to the Wetherbee Street fields and then flown to a Boston-area hospital via medical helicopter.
The initial on-scene investigation indicates that the juvenile was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in the crosswalk. The vehicle involved fled the scene. It is described as a black sedan, possibly a Nissan.
The crash remains under investigation by Acton Police, with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. Anyone with information on this incident, or information on the vehicle involved, is asked to call Acton Police at 978-264-9638.
Roads in the area have reopened as of 8:45 p.m.
