LUDLOW — Chief Daniel Valadas reports that the Ludlow Police Department arrested and charged a suspect after he allegedly assaulted a man on Saturday.
DAVID CARTER, AGE 33, of WEST SPRINGFIELD, was arrested and charged with:
- Disorderly Conduct
- Disturbing the Peace
- Assault and Battery
- Resist Arresting
- Obstruction of Justice
On Saturday, Sept. 10, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Ludlow Police Department received a 911 call from a man who reported that he was assaulted in the area of East Street near Putts Bridge.
Upon arrival, the victim told officers that he was waiting at a traffic light in his vehicle when a man punched him in the face through the vehicle’s open window. The victim informed officers that the suspect fled on foot toward Putts Bridge.
Ludlow Police located the suspect, later identified as CARTER, on Putts Bridge a short time later. Upon seeing police, CARTER allegedly began to yell obscenities and fled on foot into Springfield.
Ludlow Police were able to locate CARTER minutes later and placed him under arrest with assistance from Springfield Police.
After being placed under arrest, CARTER allegedly continued to be uncooperative. He also refused to identify himself to police and continued his behavior while being transported to the Ludlow Police Department and during the booking process.
CARTER was held on $540 cash bail and was transported to the Hampden County Correctional Center. Hewill be arraigned at Palmer District Court at a later date.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
