SOMERSET — Chief Todd Costa reports that on Independence Day the Somerset Police Department will enact a series of parking and traffic restrictions in the area of Riverside Avenue near the AMF Holiday Lanes, located at 231 Riverside Ave., and in the Brayton Point neighborhood surrounding Massasoit State Park on Massasoit Street in order to facilitate the safe and orderly flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic wishing to view the Fall River Fireworks display.
Unauthorized vehicles parked in posted areas will be tagged and towed if necessary. All parking restrictions will be in place on Monday, July 4, between the hours of 6-11 p.m.
Parking will be restricted on BOTH SIDES of the street as indicated below:
- Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) – From Rotary southwest to Sullivan Avenue;
- Sullivan Avenue – From Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) to 36 Sullivan Ave.;
- Summerfield Avenue – From Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) to Sara Avenue; and,
- O’Neil Road – From Brayton Point Road east to Angus Street.
Parking will be restricted on the NORTH SIDE of the street as indicated below:
- Pocasset Street.
Parking will be restricted on the SOUTH SIDE of the street as indicated below:
- Alden Place;
- Carey Street; and,
- Ripley Street.
Parking will be restricted on the EAST SIDE of the street as indicated below:
- Arch Street;
- Brayton Avenue – From Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) Rotary north to Slade’s Ferry Boulevard;
- Perkins Street;
- Keene Street;
- Farren Street;
- Stanley Street;
- Angus Street; and,
- Anawan Street.
Parking will be restricted on the WEST SIDE of the street as indicated below:
- Riverside Avenue – From Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) Rotary south to Alden Place;
- Walker Street;
- Stoddard Street; and,
- Massasoit Street.
In addition, the following streets will be restricted to a ONE WAY, facilitating motor vehicle traffic southbound only, and westbound only, as indicated below:
- Riverside Avenue – Southbound traffic only from Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103) Rotary to Alden Place; and,
- Alden Place – Westbound traffic only from Riverside Avenue to Wilbur Avenue (MA Route 103).
Numerous police officers will be deployed in the area to service the event. In order to facilitate the safe flow of traffic into and out of the area, motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic are asked to employ due caution and to standby for lawful direction from officers when appropriate.
