PLAINVILLE —Chief James Floyd is pleased to announce that the Plainville Police Department swore in two new officers earlier this month.
Officer Cole Leighton and Officer Jakob Davidson were sworn in during the Plainville Select Board meeting held on Monday, Jan. 10. The new officers were sworn in by Town Clerk Ellen Robertson.
The Plainville Police Department used COPS Hiring Program grant funds awarded to the department by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) to hire Officers Leighton and Davidson.
“We are pleased to welcome Officers Leighton and Davidson to the Plainville Police Department. I’m confident that as members of our department, they will develop strong relationships with our community members and serve with distinction,” Chief Floyd said. “I’d also like to thank Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey, Congressman Jake Auchincloss, Rep. Shawn Dooley, the SAFE Coalition, the Drug Enforcement Administration and all others who supported our COPS Hiring Program grant application. Their support has assisted us in securing the grant funds needed to hire additional officers and ensure that our department is able to meet the needs of our community.”
