BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte is pleased to share that the Bridgewater Police Association raised $2,620 through its No Shave Fund-Razor this year and donated the funds to the Bridgewater Senior Center.
A total of 26 officers participated, pledging at least $50 each to the fundraiser in exchange for a month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth throughout November. The donations were then matched by the Bridgewater Police Association for a grand total of $2,620.
“Director Emily Williams and the staff at the Bridgewater Senior Center do so much for the seniors in our community,” Chief Delmonte said. “I am proud of the officers and BPA for putting together such a sizeable donation for a worthy cause. It was the officers’ intention that the funds go to good use locally.”
The Bridgewater Senior Center will use the funds to purchase flashlights for seniors in the community. The remaining funds will be put toward various programs at the Senior Center.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14, Bridgewater Police Officer James Doherty, K-9 Officer Chris Rondeau and Officer John Carr presented the check to Elder Affairs Director Emily Williams.
“Now, more than ever, looking out for each other is paramount. After the Nor’easter in October, many older adults were without light for days. As a team, we asked our emergency service departments for assistance in purchasing power failure nightlights and Chief Delmonte immediately responded we would be the recipient of this year’s No Shave Fundraiser to acquire the needed items. We were overjoyed!” Director Williams said. “Yesterday, Officer Rondeau and other members of the department presented us with a check. We were incredibly thankful and emotional because we did not know the amount and learned we could help even more Bridgewater residents.”
