BRAINTREE — Chief Mark Dubois reports that the Braintree Police Department is investigating a robbery of two victims following the attempted completion of an online transaction, which resulted in a shot being fired.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17, Braintree Police responded to the rear parking lot of the Hyatt Place hotel, 50 Forbes Road, for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, police spoke with two victims who reported that they had arranged to meet an individual to complete an online transaction.
The victims reported that a vehicle with three males inside entered the parking lot. Two suspects exited the vehicle to complete the transaction and proceeded to rob the victims at gunpoint. The suspects took several items from the victims. Both victims were pistol-whipped during the robbery.
The victims told officers that the suspects fled through the intersection of Forbes Road and Granite Street and onto I-93 North. The victims pursued the suspects’ vehicle onto the highway and one of the suspects reportedly leaned out of the vehicle’s window and fired one shot at the victims’ vehicle. Police did not find any evidence to show that the victim’s vehicle was struck by the bullet, and no other property damage was reported.
Both victims were evaluated for injuries but declined to be transported to the hospital.
The suspect vehicle was subsequently recovered in Boston.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Braintree Police Department.
