BLACKSTONE — Chief Gregory Gilmore reports that the Blackstone Police Department arrested a woman on charges of possession and distribution of heroin this week.
ARLEEN ORTIZ JORDAN, AGE 42, OF WOONSOCKET, RHODE ISLAND, was charged with:
- Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Substance (Heroin)
On Thursday, Sept. 17, members of the Blackstone Police Department, in cooperation with task force members from the Worcester DEA High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit (HIDTA), arrested ORTIZ JORDAN as part of an ongoing investigation.
Police received information ORTIZ JORDAN was allegedly selling heroin in the town of Blackstone. A surveillance operation revealed that she was transporting heroin from Woonsocket to Blackstone on Thursday. As a result of the operation, officers executed a traffic stop and during the subsequent investigation, detectives found and seized from her vehicle multiple bags of heroin packaged for distribution, cash and other items related to the sale of narcotics. ORTIZ JORDAN was arrested and booked at the Blackstone Police Department.
ORTIZ JORDAN is expected to be arraigned Monday at Uxbridge District Court.
“I am pleased to announce another successful narcotics operation in the town of Blackstone that has resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of drugs and cash,” Chief Gilmore said. “I continue to encourage the officers and detectives of this department to establish effective and productive relationships with local, state and federal agencies, such as HIDTA, to curb the distribution of narcotics in our community. This type of activity is not tolerated in our town, and this department will remain vigilant in our efforts to keep these substances and activities out of Blackstone.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
