COHASSET — Chief William Quigley is pleased to announce that the Cohasset Police Department has been awarded a $25,638 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program (CESFP) grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s (EOPSS) Office of Grants and Research.
The grant was part of the $9.6 million in funding that the Baker-Polito Administration allocated to help local and state public safety agencies purchase additional resources to further aid in the prevention, preparation for and/or response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cohasset Police Department will use the funds to purchase COVID-19 cleaning supplies and equipment to set-up Zoom positions at the police station to accomplish training and certain court appearances remotely. The grant will also fund the purchase of a message sign board to notify the public of emerging information about the pandemic.
“We are extremely thankful to our state partners at EOPSS for all their assistance during these unprecedented times,” Chief Quigley said. “This equipment will enable us to streamline our response and better serve the public going forward.”
In total, the Baker-Polito administration awarded 65 fire departments and 44 police departments with CESFP awards to continue to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Massachusetts.
