SOMERSET — Chief George McNeil reports that the Somerset Police Department is actively investigating an incident where a man robbed a convenience store early Thursday morning.
At approximately 12:50 a.m., Somerset Police responded to Cumberland Farms, 992 Grand Army of the Republic Highway, for a report of an armed robbery inside the store.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to a clerk who told them that a man entered the store and walked up to the counter with some items. The man then brandished what was believed to be a razor and demanded money from the clerk.
The man subsequently fled from the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen heading toward Lepes Road.
The man was described as wearing tan pants and a blue sweatshirt. He had a goatee and appeared to be in his 40s.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
