Wakefield Police Searching for Suspects in Armed Robbery

WAKEFIELD – Chief Rick Smith reports that the Wakefield Police Department is searching for two suspects involved in an armed robbery that occurred overnight.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, Wakefield Police received a 911 call from a man who reported that he had been robbed at gunpoint by two masked men in the parking lot of 105-109 Hopkins St. and was following the suspects on Route 93 southbound.

As the victim followed the vehicle on the highway, he reported that the suspects were shooting at him. Massachusetts State Police were called to assist, but the victim lost sight of the suspect vehicle before police arrived.

The suspects are both described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing masks and dressed in all black. They fled in a blue Honda Odyssey and were last seen in the area of Roosevelt Circle in Medford.

Police believe this victim was targeted.

Wakefield Police are investigating the robbery and the highway shooting is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
