Burlington Police Department to Take Part in Active Shooter Response Training at Burlington Mall
*This training is not open to the media*
BURLINGTON — Chief Michael Kent reports that several police departments will be participating in an active shooter response training at the Burlington Mall this weekend.
WHEN:
Sunday, May 20, from 6-9 p.m.
WHERE:
Burlington Mall, 75 Middlesex Turnpike
WHO:
- Burlington Police
- Billerica Police
- Woburn Police
- Lexington Police
- Massachusetts State Police
WHAT:
The Burlington Police, working in close collaboration with its partner law enforcement agencies and the Burlington Mall, will be conducting a scheduled active shooter response training Sunday evening.
While the exercise will be closed to the public and the media, Burlington Police want residents to be aware of this training so they are not concerned by the strong police presence at the mall.
“We regularly participate in training exercises like this to ensure that all stakeholders are prepared to communicate and coordinate an effective emergency response,” Chief Kent said. “We are grateful for the close partnerships we share with our neighboring law enforcement agencies and with Burlington Mall staff, which are vital to keeping our community safe.”
The exercise will take place exclusively on Burlington Mall property, and there will be no disruption to traffic in the surrounding area.
