Saugus Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
SAUGUS — Police Chief Domenic J. DiMella reports that the Saugus Police Department arrested a man over the weekend for armed robbery.
BARRE HURLEY, AGE 28, OF SAUGUS is charged with Armed Robbery and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
HURLEY also has three active warrants: Possession of a Class B Drug, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and a Marked Lanes Violation.
On Saturday, April 21, Saugus Police received a 911 call from an employee at Amato’s Discount Liquors, 206 Lincoln Ave., who reported that a man had entered the store, brandished a syringe and demanded money. The suspect then fled with an undetermined amount of cash on foot in the direction of Kane’s Donuts.
Saugus Police responded to the scene and subsequently located the suspect, later identified as HURLEY, on Ballard Street at Spencer Avenue — a short distance from Amato’s.
HURLEY was placed under arrest and later held at the Saugus Police Department pending his arraignment at Lynn District Court.
Chief DiMella would like to recognize Sgt. Stephen Rappa, Officer Brian Misci, Officer Jeffery Wood, Officer David Zeitz and Officer Brittany Naumann for their quick response and keen investigative skills that led to the apprehension of the suspect.
