Holbrook Police Charge Man with Breaking Into Home
HOLBROOK — Chief William Smith reports that a man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly broke into a home.
DANIEL MADDEN, AGE 32, OF AVON was charged with:
- Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime for a Felony
- Malicious Destruction of Property
He also had a warrant for his arrest out of Salem District Court.
At approximately 2:18 a.m., on Saturday, March 31, the Holbrook Police Department received a report about a man that had broken into a home on Hamilton Way, before fleeing on foot.
Officers responded to the scene and began searching the for the man, later identified as MADDEN.
The subsequent investigation revealed that MADDEN used a rock to break a glass door in the rear of the single-family home in order to gain access. Two adults and a child were inside the house sleeping at the time.
MADDEN, who was barefoot and wearing only a t-shirt and boxer shorts, had several scrapes and cuts on him and was bleeding prior to entering the house. Police believe he was under the influence of drugs and had been running through the woods.
The adult residents confronted MADDEN, who then fled on foot, leaving a trail of blood through the house. He did not take anything from the home and none of the residents were injured.
Multiple officers searched the area with K9s. In addition, a State Police Air Wing helicopter also responded and used infrared cameras to help search for MADDEN.
The infrared cameras located MADDEN hiding on the property of a nearby construction business in Brockton. He was found and placed under arrest without further incident.
MADDEN was taken to a Brockton hospital to be treated for his injuries and is expected to be arraigned at the hospital on Monday.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
