Media Advisory: Burlington Police to Host Opioid Seminar on Wednesday

BURLINGTON — Police Chief Michael Kent announces that the Burlington Police Department will be hosting an opioid seminar in conjunction with Burlington High School.

The event comes amidst a nationwide opioid epidemic that has left no community untouched by the disease of addiction. All community residents are welcome to attend.

WHEN:

Wednesday, May 4 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:

Burlington High School Auditorium, 123 Cambridge St.

WHO:

• Former New England Patriot and Super Bowl Winner Chris Sullivan
• Special Agent from the DEA
• Burlington Police Detective Paul Glejzer

WHAT:

Together with Burlington High School, the Burlington Police Department invites the community to join them for an opioid seminar featuring presentations by law enforcement professionals, including a special agent from the DEA, a veteran Burlington Police Narcotics Detective and a keynote speech from former New England Patriot Chris Sullivan titled, “Not in the Playbook.”

All residents are encouraged to attend, especially parents with school-aged children. Police will set up a “mock bedroom” intended to educate parents on signs that could indicate drug use in their child’s room. Officers will be available to answer questions from attendees.

“We are really looking forward to sharing helpful information and resources with residents during this event,” Chief Kent said. “While we understand that no city or town is immune to the disease of addiction, it is our hope that by educating our residents, we can create a safer environment for our children and community as a whole.”
