Natick Police Respond to Utility Pole Struck by Vehicle
NATICK — Chief James G. Hicks reports that the Natick Police Department today responded to a utility pole that had been struck by a tractor-trailer, causing serious damage and traffic delays in a part of town.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., police responded to Michigan Drive, where a 2012 Freightliner hit a utility pole, causing it to collapse and pull down wires and a leaking transformer.
While Michigan Drive is now reopened, the incident shut down the road until just before 1 p.m. when Natick Police cleared the scene.
No one was injured in the crash and the incident remains under investigation while police determine whether any citations will be issued to the operator of the truck.
“We are thankful that no one was injured in this crash,” Chief Hicks said. “It can be unnerving to see a utility pole down with wires on the ground, but thanks to the quick action from emergency responders we were able to keep this situation under control and reopen the road in a reasonable amount of time.”
Eversource is currently on scene working to repair damage to the pole and wires.
